Eastern Europe Travelogue Day 10: Dresden, Saxony

2nd last post of the Europe travelogue! :)

Finally at Day 10 haha. We left Krakow to head to Dresden, a city back in Germany! :) It was a terribly LONG bus journey haha.

Clear blue skies along the road. I reallyyyy love countrysides. The endless sky. You hardly see such patches of skies in Singapore due to all the high rises ;( and thankfully the skies remained clear (quite sunny in fact)

Had a city tour as usual, and the city was GORGEOUS. the weather played a role i guess. haha. shall let photos do the talking as usual.

I really love their architecture. so different from Singapore's!

Stopped at a cake shop for tea! Really, a cake a day in europe is the norm.

One thing i must comment is that the people there were kinda rude? maybe cos we were asians :( like they didn't want to serve us and all.

Review: Lanzhou La Mian @ Smith Street

Went to Lan Zhou La Mian yesterday, and I think this will be the last time we're going in quite a while.

Found this place when Mao, a Japanese friend, visited Singapore few years back and requested to go to this place. Apparently the shop was featured in a Japanese guidebook for Singapore, hence there are many Japanese tourists day in and day out.

I used to like to come here till around last year, when the prices increased and the standards dropped :(

Interior is pretty old and dingy

Ordered my usual, the Minced Pork/ Zha Jiang La Mian ($5.80). It increased by $1 :O and the serving is getting smaller and smaller, now its barely enough for 3 big mouthfuls. :( maybe Japanese have really small appetites, hence they decreased the serving?

SH tried the Hokkien Mee ($5.80), which was basically Hokkien Mee with la mian... Really pricey as the serving was way too puny. 

Guo Tie ($7.80)

Usually I order xiao long bao, but because it increased in price as well, decided to try the guo tie. and Meh. It wasn't nice at all! quite oily and not even crispy. just tasted like.. dried wanton. Sweechoon's one is even better than this. Wouldn't recommend anyone to order this!

Really quite sad that the standards of this place have been dropping as it used to be my favourite la mian/ xiao long bao place! :( but really, now quality doesn't justify the price anymore

January is almost over

School work is starting to pick up. one word: BUSY.

submitted exchange apps, submitted a few internship apps, but none of the firms got back to me so far :( I wonder why.

my mpw prof is awfully nice. all profs should teach like him. i'm really interested in OB but sadly the other courses in OB major ain't interesting :(

Some stuff that I bought recently: Rilakkuma pullover (this was from sh :) ), polaroid stickers, a minty peplum blouse frm bugis. Really loving the polaroid stickers, they totally eliminate the need for patterned films!

sigh need to curb my spending though!

Tony Moly Backstage Gel Eyeliner Review

Gel eyeliners are all the rage today. IMO, its easier to apply than liquid eyeliners, and gives a more intense line then pencil liners. As a performer, its extremely important to get one that is waterproof+smudgeproof+intense, and I find that gel liners do the best job so far.

I used to have Maybelline's gel eyeliner. In fact, I think its one of the more popular ones around. I bought one and never repurchased again, partly cos 1. mine dried up even before I managed to use 1/3 of it and 2. the price kept going up! now its like $20 for one small pot?

This is the Maybelline one. No doubt it's good... but there are other cheaper alternatives! Like:

Tony Moly Backstage Gel Eyeliner

I happened to chance upon on while shopping on Korea's gmarket site last year when it wasn't that popular in sg yet. and since it was cheap (I think around 8500 won, approximately 12 bucks after shipping?) I decided to try it out. Of course, nowadays you can easier get it for around 8 bucks on Qoo10!

It comes in quite a few colours, the above are some. It now has 10 different colours in total! including brighter colours such as yellow and pink.

The actual thing. Bought it in black!

The packaging is quite bulky I guess, but I love it cause the brush is attached to the top of the cap, hence I wouldn't lose it so easily!

Brush can be extended, this is the short length. The brush isn't fantastic, but its sufficiently soft and precise for me! Its slightly more on the thick side, so not really suitable for those who are looking to draw super thin lines.

The eyeliner is somewhat creamy, and hence it is really smooth to apply! some liners will get stuck on the eyelid and product an uneven line, but this glides on smoothly, whether with or without primer. and the best thing is it hasn't dried up! A small jar goes a longgggg way. I have used it on countless occasions for performances, not only on myself but on other dancers as well,  and I still have more than half the jar left.

Such a intense black colour with one stroke!!! 

After it dries, it is basically smudge-proof. Yes. no amount of water can wash it off. It can only be removed with a oil-based eye makeup remover! However, it CAN smudge if you have oily lids/sweat too much. so its best to put some primer/eyeshadow colour over it.

I would definitely repurchase this (if I ever finish using it haha)!
